DOMA Coffee Roasting Company
Photography by Victoria Cooper
For Terry and Rebecca Patano of DOMA Coffee Roasting Company, quality, community, and family are the heart of their business. In fact, DOMA is named after Terry and Rebecca’s two sons, Dominic and Marco and their logo features a picture of Terry’s father.
Each small-batch of their coffee is methodically trialed and tested at their coffee lab in order to create flavorful, consistent roasts. They work hard to source organic, support coffee farmers, maintain transparency and be sustainable. Terry and Rebecca also use their business to give back to the community through fundraising, sponsorships, and donations. Make sure to visit DOMA coffee lab in Post Falls for coffee advice, brewing devices, artisan goods and bags of their classic and special release coffees.
Tell us a little more about your Community Commitment:
We use our business as a vehicle to do good in the world. In 2020 our theme was, “Do What Matters,” and, man, that has turned out to be pretty powerful. Where did the time go? Challenging times continue, and what a great time to bring out the best in all of us. Kinder, gentler, citizens of the planet. A great time to support each other on a community level. Over the years, we’ve made connections to build a culture, grow and support environmental causes, and work together to do good.
Here are a few groups that are doing great work and we’re proud to be a part of their efforts:
Protect Our Winters, because Mother Nature needs some help.
La Bicicletta (helping fund Bike Cooperatives and cycling related stuff) plus bikes are cool.
Get Lit! Festival, because reading is awesome.
Transitions/Safe Passage, supporting their work to end poverty and homelessness for women and children one cup of coffee at a time.
Spokane River Keeper, because clean water makes good coffee.
IPAC, UAC, FAC, because avalanches happen and education saves lives.
Which products are you most excited about right now?
New coffees are always exciting and we continue to have some fantastic ones. Working with farmers year after year is an amazing process and experience.
What should people know about you and/or DOMA?
This is our 22nd year of roasting great coffee and there is still so much to learn. Every day brings something new.
